Bashkir State Medical University

The Bashkir State Medical Institute was founded in 1932. In 1995 it was reorganized into the University.Bashkir State Medical University is one of the top Universities of Russia to study medicine. It is considered to be the center of medical and pharmaceutical science of Bashkortostan Republic. This University is located in the Ufa City. For the last 80 years, Bashkir State Medical University has been training specialists for healthcare, scientific, and pedagogical work in the field of professional medical and pharmaceutical education of the Russian Federation. Among the Indian students, BMSU is one of the popular Universities for many years to pursue MBBS in Russia.

The faculty of BSMU has famous scholars and medical practitioners who take care of teaching, medical, scientific and innovative activity. The University retains the study material and technical resources, training facilities, and a large library stock. Now there are many faculties at the University: medical, paediatric, Stomatological, pharmaceutical, microbiological, faculty of preventive medicine, nursing and social work. There is a six-year course of training for the medical and paediatric students, and a five-year course at the other faculties. Over five thousand students study at all these faculties.

There are about sixty departments in various clinical and practical specialties. The curriculum contains all the subjects that are necessary for the training of highly skilled specialists. The undergraduates have practice at the clinics of the University. The students have all the facilities to earn out their research works under the supervision of their teachers. The students’ scientific society is of great importance for the training of young specialists.

    • Key features of General Medicine Faculty:

  • This medical faculty is the biggest structural and functional sub-division of the BSMU.
  • The students who have chosen English medium don’t have to study the Russian language. They will be admitted directly to the first course where medical subjects are taught in English.
  • The duration of course is 5.8 years.
  • Foreign scientists and prof from USA, UK, Germany, Canada, Italy, India, Malasiya and other Countries are invited to give lectures at the BSMU.
  • Teachers from foreign countries come to give practical training to the students so that they can easily work in India, UK, Malaysia, Sri lanka, USA etc.

    • Academics

    Bashkir State Medical University is one of the best medical universities in Russia. We have a strong undergraduate and graduate program, as well as resident ship, internship and refreshment courses for doctors and pharmacy specialists. There are 615 faculty teaching at the University, including 429 MD and 161 PhD. Our Students are quite competitive: we have usually 2-5 applications for each available slot.
    More than 5000 students can use our seven buildings, well equipped laboratories, computer classes, and a huge library. The University has an IT department, 8 inter-departmental computer classes that are used by 49 departments. We have a campus-wide LAN and a fast Internet Connection. Undergraduate and graduate students can use well equipped scientific labs for cutting edge medical research. .

    Student life

    There are five hostels that can accommodate 2000 students.’

  • The hostels are centrally heated like (air-conditioned), and fully furnished.
  • The basic system is two or three students in one room.
  • Students are provided with full bedding.
  • Separate arrangements for boys and girls.
  • Every hostel has internet facilities provided by Academy
  • Students can get Indian food at the canteen of the hostel
  • All the hostels are well guarded with police security
  • Extra Curricular Department which includes soccer, volleyball, basketball, power lifting, chess, and mountain climbing classes
  • Summer sport camp which is located on the picturesque bank of the Belaya River. Both the staff and the students have the opportunity to spend their summer vacations there. In summer camp, there are boat trips, playgrounds, and saunas.

    • Library:
    BSMU students can use a big library with more than 500000 books, 85% is the special medical literature. Reading halls get 287 titles of periodical editions monthly. Our library has 4 specialized reading halls with 252 seats, local net and electronic catalogue which makes possible with an access to many databases.

    Achievements

  • The University is famous for its world-class centres for mini- invasive surgery and endoscopy, plastic abdominal surgery, pediatric surgery and kidney transplantation. Many our professors got awards for research, including the ones for novel drugs “Iodantipirine” and “Anandine” , “Oxymethyluracil”, “Immureg”, “Abactolat”, “Desavic”.
  • Our scientists participate actively and organize congresses and conferences in Russia and abroad.
  • We have 73 University chairs including 30 clinical residentships and 27 postgraduate programs.
